Bookkeeping Index is operated by Pleiades Consultancy. This page covers what we collect through the site and what we do with it.

Reading the site

You can use every list and profile without giving us anything. The site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps standard request logs such as IP address and pages requested, which it uses to run and protect the service. Clicks on links to firms are counted without cookies, as the next section explains.

When you click a firm's website, its Google profile, a Featured link or a claim link, the site records six things: the time, which kind of link it was, which firm, which page you were on, the host name of the site that sent you to that page, and the country Cloudflare reports for the request. It doesn't record your IP address or anything about your browser, and it doesn't set a cookie. Each click becomes one row in a Google Sheet that Pleiades Consultancy controls, and we use those rows to count clicks per firm.

When you claim a listing or send a correction

We collect what you type into the form: your name, your email address, your role at the firm (for a claim), the fields you want corrected, your evidence links and any message.

  • For a claim, we email a one-time code to the address you give. The code is sent through Resend, our email provider.
  • Your submission is added to a review spreadsheet (Google Sheets) and a notice goes to our team's Slack, so a person can check the evidence.
  • Each step is written to an audit log so we can show later who submitted what, and when.
  • When a firm owner verifies a claim, we add the firm and your contact details to our customer records (Close). Pleiades Consultancy works with bookkeeping firms, so we may contact you about our services. If you don't want that, say so in your submission or send a correction asking us to stop, and we will.

We don't sell your details, and we don't publish your name or email on the site. A correction you send can change what a listing shows, but your identity isn't displayed.

How long we keep it

We keep claim and correction records for as long as the firm is listed, because they explain why a listing says what it says. The audit log is kept permanently and can't be edited. If you want your personal details removed from our customer records, send a correction asking for it and we'll do it within 14 days. We'll keep a note that a submission existed.

Firm information we publish

The facts shown about each firm come from the firm's own website, public government records and public directories, each with a link and a date. If you think we've published something about your firm that we shouldn't have, send a correction.
